Four interconnected work packages driving systemic change in clinical trial inclusivity. Each work package brings together a cluster of doctoral research projects united by a shared research theme.
Develops and validates standardised metrics and assessment tools for equity, diversity, and inclusion in clinical trials. Through systematic evaluation of current practices, this work package establishes evidence-based approaches to measuring trial inclusivity, including frameworks for assessing eligibility criteria and a core outcome set for EDI reporting.
Creates innovative approaches to enhance trial inclusivity by addressing cultural, linguistic, and systemic barriers to participation. This includes a systematic framework for addressing methodological barriers to inclusion, AI-driven recruitment monitoring, culturally appropriate strategies for biobank engagement, and frameworks for diverse patient advisory groups.
Transforms EDI principles into practical, evidence-based resources for the clinical trials community. This work package delivers statistical methodologies for inclusive trial design, a toolbox of best practices, ethical guidance frameworks, training programmes for trial personnel, and strategies for culturally responsive dissemination of findings.
Advances sustainable approaches for embedding EDI into clinical research infrastructure. This includes investigating EDI in patient and public involvement initiatives, analysing stakeholder perspectives to inform policy, and developing practical frameworks for translation and interpretation services throughout the trial lifecycle.
